Field of Dreams

The Older had a wonderful opportunity with the Tampa Bay Yankees last night; he got to go on the field, run the bases, and then hit the field with the players for the National Anthem. The team has Field of Dreams events like this for the little league teams in the area, and it was a fantastic time!

Here he is running the bases:

(The Younger got to run the bases too, which was nice)

After they ran the bases, it was time to take the field! The kids got to line up, then they were assigned a player to go on the field with for the National Anthem.

This is my favorite picture (that I was able to capture. I missed the one of the three outfielders giving him high-fives).

It was a fantastic day, and I cannot stress enough how wonderful events like this are. This team and all the staff at the stadium are so friendly, and the kids always end up having a wonderful time. If you are in the area and love baseball, please try to get to a game. You won’t be sorry!

    • Yup, the flag is always in the outfield (that I know of anyway).

I do love the photo! I might be framing it, but I wish I had the flag in the shot. To get it, I would have had to lay down on the field, and I wasn’t comfortable doing that, LOL!

  1. The picture of the 3 players with your son, just flutters my heart. What a beautiful picture. I hope they enjoy these memories for the rest if their lives!

  3. WOW! What a very cool experience! We’re about to move to a place that has a AAA farm team, so I’ll have to see if they offer something like that to the leagues around town. I also love that last picture. Are you going to get it framed for your son? And for what it’s worth, I’ve been to both major league games and minor league, and I actually prefer the minor league games, especially for kids!

  4. Cute! I remember the Cleveland Indians having family nights, banner nights, etc. when I was little. LOVED getting to go onto the big league field. How fun for your son!

BUT, I find it hysterical that the Yankees have a farm team in the same town as the major league Rays. As a lifelong MLB fan, that’s hysterically funny! Way more than ironic.
